NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
For once, the folks in Congress had the right idea: Pass legislation people actually will want and support. The do not call list is fantastic because basically, NO ONE likes to be bothered at home by pesky telemarketers, and this includes numerous executives from the telemarketing industry who have also signed up for the list! Of course, its such a great idea, with around 50 million people supporting it, that the telemarketing industry knows its about to get screwed royally, so what do they do? Sue... and what happens? Well...
OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM BLOWS MAJOR ASS
Someone, please, SHOOT THESE FEDERAL JUDGES WHO KEEP BLOCKING THE DO-NOT-CALL LIST! Jesus Christ. First, some hick judge from Oklahoma blocks it. Then Congress, (quickly, for once) acts, and gives the FTC power to operate the list. Now, a second moron judge in Denver (good luck Kobe, you're fucked) blocks it on free speech grounds. What the hell? What about my goddamn right not to have to take the phone calls in the first place! I do not understand how it could be unclear to these judges, who themselves signed up for the list, that people and Congress want telemarketers stopped.
WE NEED THE DO NOT CALL LIST TO STOP EVIL TELEMARKETERS!
Personally, I have been fairly lucky, and I don't get harassed by too many calls, other then MCI friends and family. I thought these guys were bankrupt.. I guess not. I hope they do go out of business though, I hate you MCI.
