Andre Agassi was born April 29, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His Iranian-born father Mike Agassi was an Olympic boxer in 1948 and 1952. Andre, the youngest of 4 children, was deemed a tennis prodigy at age three.
Flamboyant showmanship on and off the court has made Andre Agassi a fan favorite since he first entered on the Tour in 1987. After being the #1 tennis player in the world in 1995, Andre hit a slump in 1997, finishing the year ranked #122. In 1998 he vowed to return to the game full force, and did so finishing the year ranked 6th. Through his involvement in tennis, Andre has raised millions of dollars for charity, most notably through the Andre Agassi Foundation, which helps children at risk.
